Shaagird Foundation Helps Rukhsar Khatoon Return to Education After Mother’s Mob Lynching in Bihar

The story of Rukhsar Khatoon is one that mounts weights on minds and wrings the hearts. The story, which not only encompasses brutality but also plundering childhood. On February 25, 2026, during the month of Ramadan, Ruksar Khatoon’s mother, Roshan, became a victim of brutal assault and public humiliation, costing her life. According to media reports, the residents of Amhi village in Ghoghardiha block, Bihar, including Khatoon, were beaten relentlessly for hours. Kicks, punches, and blows from sticks left her body battered and weak, but the violence did not stop even when she was barely conscious. 

What followed was even more disturbing. She was dragged out in public, was forced onto the ground, and was tied to a pole. The assault continued in full view. Her body, already failing, could not withstand the continued brutality.

Amid all this, Roshan was fasting. Dehydrated and in severe pain, she begged for water, but she was met with further degradation. She was allegedly forced to consume a mixture of alcohol and urine, an act that compounded her physical suffering with deep emotional and psychological trauma.

By the time she was taken to Patna Medical College and Hospital, her condition had deteriorated beyond recovery. On March 1, 2026, Roshan Khatoon succumbed to her injuries. 

Life without Mother 

As the soul of Roshan departed, so did the happiness of Rukhsar. Every meal served, every comfort offered, and every love showered reminded her of Roshan, her mother, her protector. Days passed in coping with the loss, and nights in weeping. Loneliness became concrete, and contentment turned fragile. What next lay was another loss: the halt of education. 

The roots of Roshan Khatoon belong to a family with a silver spoon missing, and her death dug it deeper. The legal expenses of her case were heavy, but justice was much demanded. However, this came with a cost too. The stoppage of Rukhsar’s education. The hindrance in arranging school fees. 

Hopes Emerged through Shaagird 

Having lost a mother and then forced to stop education created a deep impact on Rushsar. Already grappling with life’s upheaval, Ruskhsar was pushed further to loneliness and darkness. But a light was waiting for her after the tunnel. The light of Shaagird Foundation, which contacted Rukhsar’s family, shared the pain, and took the responsibility of recouping her education. 

The Foundation enrolled her in a reputed school, where she walk towards the path of education, towards happiness, leaving behind loneliness. She paves her way towards a bright future, treading with determination and dedication.
